THE VERY BEGINNING

How it all Started

It's Great to Be Gluten-Free was founded in 2021 by author, Stefi Mac.

Driven by her own encounter with gluten intolerance and her unwavering devotion to her Coeliac daughter, she embarked on a mission to support children who were transitioning to a gluten-free lifestyle following a medical diagnosis. Her goal was to empower them with the necessary tools to lead a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.

To achieve this, Stefi conducted extensive research and went on to develop the five fundamental components of the gluten-free journey: navigating a diagnosis, adapting to dietary changes, mastering the art of reading food labels, managing cross-contamination, and overcoming the social challenges of adhering to a gluten-free diet. These five pillars laid the groundwork for the book series and the business as it stands today.

But the journey didn't end there. She recognised that the key to providing optimal support for these children was to collaborate with experts in the field. To that end, she approached dietitians, child psychologists, and regulatory organisations to gather the best resources and best practices available.

But it didn't stop there either. She knew that to genuinely engage children and make a lasting impact, she needed to bring in top talent. Therefore, she enlisted the help of the accomplished gluten-free and award-winning illustrator, Kat Fox, to create a vivid and engaging book series that would captivate the imaginations of kids and help bring fun back into the "gluten-free" lifestyle.

The 'It's Great to Be Gluten Free' book series is engaging, relatable, and easy-to-follow, a true game-changer for children, families, and educators alike. Stefi and her team have created a community in which being gluten-free is not doom and gloom, but a journey of new opportunities, discoveries, and empowerment.
